Strengthening women’s leadership
Advancing Women Leaders As Key Change Agents
Our design and interventions aim to comprehensively expand the ability of women leaders to undertake the democratic development of their panchayats, and simultaneously make space for active community participation in local governance. THP India recognises that women’s active participation can and has created important spaces for community voices and local development priorities to emerge. The program supports women leaders in understanding the social and structural barriers within which they operate, while equipping them with the knowledge, tools, and skills needed to improve access to welfare entitlements and public services through effective use of resources. The program is committed to strengthening good governance, accountability, and transparency within gram panchayats.

Empowering Adolescent Girls
The overall program is embedded in the governance framework.Over the last ten years, the adolescent girls’ program has boldly deepened its impact – strengthening girls’ voices, agency, and the power of informed choice. Anchored in a two-pronged strategy: girl-centric leadership and systematic engagement of local governance institutions. It fuels transformation from within and around.
The program fosters a sense of empowerment, girls emerge not as passive recipients of change but as whole individuals equipped with the confidence, knowledge, and skills necessary to speak, act and access their entitlements. Simultaneously, it works to ensure that local governance structures are more responsive and accountable to the realities faced by adolescent girls, ensuring that their concerns are acknowledged and addressed in governance-related decision-making processes.
