The Hunger Project started its activities in Odisha in 2004 and is working in seven districts of Odisha with six partners.
In Odisha, about 40 percent of the population is below the poverty line. The Hunger Project, along with its partner non-governmental organizations (NGOs), has undertaken activities to train and inform elected women representatives at the Gram Panchayat level of the Panchayati Raj Institution’s (PRI) systems.
This is to ensure that they can address persistent hunger and poverty issues in their areas. Since 2004, around 8262 Elected Women Representatives have been trained through its initiatives.
